Who is Food Export Association of the Midwest USA?

Food Export Association of the Midwest USA is a non-profit organization that promotes the export of food and agricultural products from the midwestern region of the United States.  The organization has been helping exporters of midwestern food and agricultural products sell their products overseas since 1969, when it was first created as a cooperative effort between 12 midwestern state agricultural promotion agencies and the United States Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS).  (Food Export Association’s member states can be accessed on our Food Producers Page.)

Food Export Association, in conjunction with its member states, provides a wide range of services to facilitate trade between local food companies and importers around the world.  These services include: export promotion, customized export assistance, and a cost-share funding program.  Additional information about these and other Food Export Association services can be accessed on our Services Page.     

The Midwest is one of the world’s leading food-producing areas.  Midwestern farmers harvest more than one-third of the world’s grain, as well as oil seeds, fruits and vegetables, beans, livestock, and dairy products.  Consequently, the Midwest is home to hundreds of companies who provide consumers around the globe with high quality processed food and agricultural products.  For more information about how Food Export Association benefits companies and impacts the midwestern region, please see our most recent Annual Report.

Food Export Association is one of four State Regional Trade Groups (SRTG’s) that assists companies with export promotion. Three other regional groups, Food Export USA Northeast, SUSTA, and WUSATA provide similar services for companies based or sourcing product from outside of the Food Export Association 12-state region.
